How to Get Your Kids More Active in 2019

Written by Alannah Fleming

January is about resolutions, often resolutions to get healthy, to eat less sugar, or to be more active. It’s the time of new year, new you. Yet, while we’re weighing our own ambitions, maybe we should consider the health of our kids too. For 2019, the Scottish Government is tackling inactivity in our youth. With interactive plans, opportunities and initiatives in place, they know kids are our future, and it's up to us to get them healthy. It’s time to get active and stay active!

In 2019, The Scottish Government announced its aim to cut physical inactivity by 15% by 2030. Beginning with far reaching initiatives such as support for sports and funding for active travel, they along with their partners in the education and health sectors propose to increase activity in up to a quarter of a million more young people.

With National Obesity Awareness week running from the 14th to 20th January, there’s no better time than now to introduce healthy habits into your children's lives. Not only are these small steps amazing for their health, they also promote attentiveness, social confidence, bonding and overall happiness. So get your runners on and take the path to health!
