Why your data is safe with ClassForKids | GDPR

Written by Sarah Ahmad

It’s been almost a year since the new European data protection laws, GDPR, was enforced by the Information Commissioner’s Office across the continent and the UK. It’s definitely a step forward towards providing new rights for individuals to access their data and how they wish to manage it, how businesses are obliged to regulate data they receive and putting new fines in place for those who don’t comply.

At ClassForKids, we settled up and prepared everything necessary to be 100% GDPR compliant for everyone who uses the system including club owners, coaches and parents. It was definitely a hefty task for all of us in the company to ensure that the system was ready and future-proof, but we did it and we've been running under the new laws very smoothly this passed year! Oh, how did we prepare ClassForKids to be GDPR compliant you ask?

Well for Data Privacy Day, we’d like to explain to you why the security of your data is important to us and what we’ve done to guarantee that everything is safe with us! But first, let’s refresh our minds about what GDPR is exactly.

So what of my data is safe under GDPR?

Well this includes your personal and sensitive data eg. basic identification such as your name, address and ID numbers, web data like your location, IP address, cookie data and RFID tags, medical information, biometrics, ethnicity, political views and also sexual orientation.

Why should I care about GDPR?

GDPR allows you to have more rights towards the data you share online and prevents companies who process high volumes of information from abusing it for their benefit and without your consent. You now have the ability to do what you want with your data like, eg. not sharing your information at all or even withdrawing or deleting existing information that you’ve shared.

Ok. So how is my data safe with ClassForKids

At ClassForKids, we’ve implemented a few things to ensure that all data received is heavily secured and in safe hands. Let us explain to you what we’ve done:

We hope that this blog post informs you further on GDPR and why your data is safe with ClassForKids. If you have any questions about this topic or want anymore advice about how long and strong your passwords should be, give us a shout and we’ll support you in any way we can!
