Behind Success is Ambition

Academy CEO Douglas Samuel, a former player of the Club and current Men’s 1st Team Head Coach, joined the Spartans family after being inspired by the Clubs values and ethos.  For Douglas, Spartans is more than just a football club.  Its purpose is to redefine what’s possible for a football club in terms of community engagement, to make a meaningful difference for others and bring true lasting social impact to its local community.

More than a decade on, working with other ‘blue coats’ Douglas continues to drive The Academy programmes to provide more opportunities to nurture more young people in the community.  And while improving football skills are still a focal point during sessions, Spartans also brings something unique to the pitch through volunteering and employment opportunities within its Community Coaching Team.

Skills for Life

The Academy places importance on supporting young people through unique opportunities and personal development. From social support to career development, coaches at The Academy take pride in mentoring the young people of the future.

Thanks to The Academy’s unique offering, over 500 kids are attending weekly sessions. And with over 17 classes, including girls-only sessions and holiday camps, business is booming. Recent success has allowed Spartans to invest in a brand new, state of the art playing surfaces. For Douglas, the upgrade is more than just a pitch; it’s inclusiveness for every person attending the club, including competitive and community teams.

But with a thriving business, growing programme sizes and big ambitions for the future came challenges. Registers were time-consuming, payments were increasingly difficult to chase, and manual customer communications were mounting. So Spartans began to search for a new team player.

“ClassForKids met all our needs. It's a win-win! We can contact parents about their bookings and keep them up to date… it makes our admin much more streamlined… ”

Striking the Perfect Match with ClassForKids

Having invested so much in The Academy, Spartans were looking for a way to streamline their process. After searching for a solution that could meet their needs, ClassForKids joined the team.

Now it’s easy for Spartans to manage their teams, track payments and communicate with their customers. But it’s not just communication that’s improved; it’s also simplified the booking process with customers booking and paying for classes in just 3 clicks! The ClassForKids system is helping Spartans focus on their customers and bring an even better experience. And when it comes to favourite features for improving The Academy, here’s what Douglas has to say:

“The filter tab for registration questions is really handy. We gather permission for photography at our sessions, and this filter lets us quickly identify customers who can or cannot be photographed”.

The ClassForKids system will play a crucial role in The Academy’s plans for the future by taking care of the day-to-day tasks. The system will allow Douglas and his team to be able to expand on the reach of their community programmes, focus on building out their holiday camps, and increase their social impact on the local community.
